Do You Want Fresh Breath When You Wear Braces? Here’s What to Do
Our orthodontist, Dr. William, and orthodontic team understand how inconvenient bad breath can be. Unfortunately, it’s quite common to have bad breath when you have braces because food particles and plaque get stuck in and on your smile regularly. The good news is that there are things you can do to achieve the fresh breath you deserve, and we are happy to tell you all about them!
The first thing you should do is frequently clean your teeth, gums, and braces. To do so, brush after every time you eat, floss at least once a day (preferably more often, like when you brush), and rinse daily. After you brush, clean your tongue and remove the bacteria that reside there. These things can help you have a top-notch breath.
The second thing you should do is attend your dental checkups every six months. This is important because our dental team will deeply clean your teeth and braces with special techniques and tools. This can help you remove the odorous substances that are difficult to remove and it can help you prevent gum disease, which is a dental disease that involves persistent bad breath.
