Do You Have Braces? Here Are Some Ways to Make Flossing Easier

If you have a hard time flossing when you have braces, you’re not alone. Many people find it difficult to work floss under and around the braces hardware. This can make caring for and cleaning your smile quite troublesome. Fortunately, there are things you can do to make flossing when you have braces easier. Our orthodontist, Dr. William, is happy to tell you all about them. Those things are:

-Use a floss threader: A floss threader is a disposable loop-shaped tool that helps you thread floss through the small and tight-knit spaces of your smile and braces. You just thread the floss through the loop, pull the tool under and through the braces wire (hold one end of the floss), and pull the tool away so the floss escapes the loop. This puts the floss in the perfect position to clean between your teeth.

-Use a water flosser: A water flosser helps clean your teeth and braces. It is a wand and a water reservoir. The wand sprays water out of the tip customized to your liking. All you need to do is place the tip where you want to clean, wrap your lips around the wand, and then spray.

-Use waxed floss: Waxed floss is a resilient product that can slide smoothly around your smile without catching on your hardware. This is a great tool to use to help you have a more pleasant flossing experience.
